I started cooking when I was 18 back in Kosciusko, Mississippi. I recreated some of the same dishes that my mom cooked back home like collard greens, turnip greens, corn bread, potato salad, fried chicken and smothered-fried cabbage.
I attended Clark College in Vancouver, WA to learn more about baking. I really wanted to acquire a unique feel for making breads. Making laminated doughs was intriguing to me. So I started Mildred's Sweet Treats in 2008.
Initially, I started cooking for family and friends. Now I also cater to small cafés, restaurants, and party events.
